Anita Hegmann McCray, of Old Saybrook, Conn., died on May 10, 2016 at age 73. She was born to Alfred and Martha Hegmann in New London, Conn., and graduated from Colby College.
After raising her family in Andover, she found quiet and peace in Old Saybrook, living in "The Cove" among her many friends and neighbors. Anita died in the home she loved thanks to her Visiting Nurse Patty Tsou and the many wonderful folks at Hospice of Middlesex. She spent her final moments in calm and comfort, holding the hand of her sister.
Anita is survived by her sister, Lorraine (Bill) Whalen from Florida and her brother, Alfred Hegmann in New London. Her two sons, Arthur Justin (Nadia) McCray from New York City and John Prescott (Katie) McCray from Monterey, Calif. were the stars in her life. Outshining the boys however, were Anita's grandchildren: Esme and Luna on the East Coast and William and Blair out west.
Anita left this life wishing for no ceremony or memorial, only wanting us to keep her in our hearts with fond, lasting memories.
