ANDOVER AND LAWRENCE: Arthur Bryant Glines, 96, died peacefully on October 7, 2015. He was born at the family home in Andover on August 12, 1919, and was a proud Andover resident for many years. Educated in Andover public schools and Phillips Academy, he graduated from Punchard High School in 1937. He earned his BS in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1942. Immediately following, he served in the US Navy until the end of WWII.
From 1945 until his retirement, he owned and operated the Roland B. Glines Company in Lawrence, an electric motor sales and service business originally owned by his father. In his later years, he lived in Methuen and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Andover and Methuen Senior Centers. One of his greatest pleasures was listening to the big bands and swing music from the 1930s and 1940s.
Arthur is survived by his five children, Donald of Rye, N.H., Lori Brandt and her husband, Dana of Manomet, Mass., Carol McLaughlin and her husband, David of Derry, N.H., Russell Glines and his wife, Suzanne of Salem, N.H., and Randall Glines and his wife, Misty of Epping, N.H.; as well as 18 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Perkins, and Priscilla Sturges.
Relatives and friends were kindly invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, October 13, at 12 p.m., in the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
