SALISBURY: Constance (Connie) Marie Grasso lost her battle with a long-term illness on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in Andover. Connie was born in Lawrence on September 11, 1950, to Giuseppe and Rosa Grasso. She attended Lawrence High School and Suffolk University, but returned home to dedicate her life to the two cities that she loved, Lawrence and Salisbury. Aside from her entrepreneurial CG Business Services, Connie served as Vice-President on the Lawrence Cultural Alliance, wherein she championed and promoted the arts and vitality of the city. She passionately preserved her beloved Italian-American culture in Lawrence by regularly supporting cultural events, including the annual Feast of St. Alfio.

Once she moved to the quiet of the North Shore, Connie served on the board of directors for the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce to foster tourism and appreciation for the beach she had loved since childhood. Also while living in Salisbury, Connie dedicated herself to the YWCA Greater Newburyport, working to provide housing for low-income individuals. She also was a fierce crusader for the YWCA’s Encore, a therapeutic group to support women in all stages of breast cancer.

She leaves behind her loving sister, SandraJean Grasso, SandraJean’s husband, Chris Smith; her nieces and nephew, Michela, Gabriella, and Dante; and a world of friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held April 11, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover, MA 01810. In lieu of flowers, Connie requested that memorial wishes be sent to YWCA Greater Newburyport Encore Program in Memory of Connie Grasso, 13 Market St., Newburyport, MA 01950.
