Donald Kingman Ellsworth, 87, formerly of Andover, passed away on April 10, 2017.
Donald, the son of Neil and Ella Ellsworth, was born in Woburn, Mass. He grew up in Burlington, Mass., and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, he joined Massachusetts Electric, where he spent his entire career.
Married to Donna Cameron Ellsworth for 61 years, he will be missed by his three children, Mary Lownie (Ken), Diane Mello (Rob) and David Ellsworth (Nicole Ducey); and his five grandchildren, Cameron, Betsy, Christina, Oliver, and Harrison.
He and Donna were members of West Parish Church in Andover for more than 50 years, where he filled many leadership roles. He was also a member of the Andover Finance Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and a number of other town committees.
In addition to volunteering for The Samaritans and Habitat for Humanity, he was a passionate fisherman, avid gardener, and enjoyed skiing and tennis; he was also nearly unbeatable at cribbage, bridge, hearts, and other card games. His favorite place to be on earth was the Ellsworth family "camp" on Lake Winnisquam with family and friends.
There will be calling hours with Donna on Monday, April 17, between 4 and 7 p.m. at West Parish Church in Andover, Mass. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Claremont, N.H., on April 23 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church of Claremont, 72 Pleasant Street, Claremont, NH 03743.
