Eleanor Cutting Hendry (formerly of Andover) died at William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay, Fla. April 27, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Cambridge, February 4, 1933 and graduated from Belmont High School in 1950. Ellie went on to Cambridge Junior College to get an Associate degree in 1952 and then to Katherine Gibbs School in Boston to graduate in 1953. She married Neil A. Hendry on May 20, 1961. Ellie worked at Lincoln Labs at MIT from 1954-1963. She retired to Florida in 1992.
Ellie was friendly, funny and frank. She could always be counted on for a joke. She was also a good listener and kept in touch with her friends and family via long telephone calls and letters after retiring to Florida. She was an avid gardener, keeping plants and a garden wherever she moved. She also loved the birds and had a long lifer list of birds she had seen.
Ellie leaves behind her children, Lauren of Palm Bay, Fla., Robert of Northfield, and Jim of Golden, Colo. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Haley Tosches, Alison Tosches, Lily Harris-Hendry, Georgia Harris-Hendry and Sabrina Hendry. She also has many friends from where she lived in North Adams, Mendon, Vt., Wilbraham, Mass., Andover, and Bradenton, Fla.
She was predeceased by her husband, Neil in 1989 and her brother, Ralph C Cutting Jr. in 2008.
There will be a celebration of her life in Guilford, Vt. at the family cemetery plot at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773.
