ANDOVER — Jack Berberian, 88, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, in Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Viola (Danielian) Berberian, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Born in Andover on November 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Daniel and Lucia (Asoian) Berberian. He was a lifelong resident of Andover, and a graduate of Andover High School, formerly known as Punchard High School. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University and received his bachelor’s degree and his master's degree in Business Administration.
Jack was a U.S. Army World War II veteran in the 1296 Combat Engineer’s Division in the Philippines. He worked for many years for the Tyer Rubber Co., and also as a Business Administrator for the Andover, Bedford and Ayer Public Schools. He was a former board member of the Andover Home for the Aged and lifetime member of the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence. Jack had a passion for farming and especially liked to spend time tending to his vegetable garden.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and football, and while attending Northeastern University, he was a member of the football team. He also liked to golf throughout the years. Jack’s real love was for his family and the time he was able to spend with them. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Karen Tsolakos and her husband, Constantine, of Cape Coral, Fla., Daniel Berberian and his wife, Madeline, and Jonathan Berberian, all of Andover; three grandsons, Jack, Christopher and Daniel. He was also predeceased by his sister, Julia Berberian.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service for Jack will be held on Thursday, August 7, in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main St., Andover, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 6, in the funeral home, from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the West Parish Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jack’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
