Joan's Story

Joan B. Klosowski died on October 4, 2014, at the age of 80. She was the wife of the late Fred Burgdorf, with whom she had shared 25 years of marriage.

Born in Peabody on July 31, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Terence C. and Jane (Goreman) Klosowski. Joan attended Holten High School in Danvers. She had been a resident of Woodland, Calif., for the past 53 years. She had been employed at Mobil Chemical for 33 years in California. Joan loved to travel with her twin sister and enjoyed crafts, oil paintings and photography.

She is survived by her twin sister, Jean V. Klosowski of Salem, and her sister, Phyllis Ryan of Lynn; her nephew, Paul Breau; niece, Deborah Carkonen; her daughter, Caroline Cook of California; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Terence C. Klosowski Jr.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Friday, October 17, in Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St., Danvers. Visiting hours are Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St, Danvers.
