K. Eileen's Story
It is with deep sadness that the family of K. Eileen Carroll announces her passing on September 11, 2017.
Eileen lived a full and accomplished life of 98 years.
Born April 26, 1919, to Timothy and Nora McCarthy, Eileen spent her whole life in Fitchburg, Mass., and is remembered for her love of family and friends. She and her husband, John Patrick (1999), with whom she was a devoted wife of 59 years, took great pride in guiding and educating their children. Eileen loved crossword puzzles and rarely missed a day of watching Jeopardy. She loved family gatherings, especially The Carroll Family Christmas Party.
She was the loving mother of Dr John (Chris) of Toledo, Ohio, William (Jayne) of Phoenix, Ariz., Katharine White of Osterville, Mass., Charles of Osterville, Mass., Margaret Copplestone (David) of Wellesley, Mass., Patricia Vyas (Dr Anil) of Osterville, Mass., Eileen Martel of Osterville, Mass., Thomas (Mary) of Andover, Mass., and Noreen Rogers (John) of Marblehead, Mass.
She leaves 18 grandchildren, John, Patrick, Katie, Mike, Fair, Caitlin, Kristin, Megan, Shannon, Molly, Hannah, Sarah, Courtney, Nora, Bridget, Andrew, Lizzy, Sean. She was the great-grandmother of Mason, Sammy, Delaney Eileen, Scarlett Eileen, Dolan Patrick, John Francis. She leaves nieces, Margaret Morris, Joan McCarthy.
She was predeceased by sister, Marion Morris; brothers, Charles (Chick) and Johnny; and dear friend, Elayne Spooner.
If the success of a person's life can be judged by the impact she has made on others, Eileen reached out to many; touching them with her generosity, sense of humor, tenacity and by positive example. She will live on through all of us who have been fortunate to have known her, and especially through those who were close enough to have loved her and been loved by her.
Services were held at Our Lady of the Assumption, 76 Wianno Ave., Osterville, MA. Wake was at 10 a.m. followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on September 21, 2017. Funeral arrangements by Lavery Chartrand & Alario.
In lieu of flowers, please plant something beautiful in your yard, perform an act of kindness or donate to Catholic Charities, 196 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA 01453.
