ANDOVER: Kenneth Aldbury Young, 73, of Sudbury, formerly of Andover, died unexpectedly May 4, 2015, along with his wife, Jane West Young in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
He was born in Lawrence, son of the late Howard A. and Gwendolen (Braddon) Young.
Ken grew up in Andover and was a graduate of Andover High School in 1960 and Bentley College. He worked for many years for the Boy Scouts, Pellon Corporation of Andover, and the New Hampshire Insurance Co.
He was active in Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, past Master Councilor of DeMolay and a crucifer at Christ Church.
On his mother’s travels to England in 1934, she visited the lovely village of Aldbury. She remembered that village by giving Ken, Aldbury as his middle name. Ken was a kind and gentle person, and like his father and had wonderful smile.
He is survived by his children, Beth Young of Waltham and Brian Young of Sudbury; his brother, Robert A. Young and his wife, Nancy of Falmouth, Gwendolen Young Devoe and her late husband, Col. John Brooks Devoe of Greenland, N.H., Joyce Young of Montreal, Canada, Priscilla Young Bouchard and her husband, Stew of Stowe, Vt.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held May 28 at Lincoln-Sudbury High School, Sudbury. A private burial was held at Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ken’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
