Marjorie's Story

ANDOVER: Marjorie E. Feinberg, 92, of North Andover, passed away at Prescott House, North Andover on January 6. Born in Bangor, Maine, the daughter of the late Archie and Sara (Brownstone) Epstein. Marjorie attended elementary school in Bangor. After moving to Portland, she graduated Portland High School and then attended Simmons College in Boston.

Marjorie married Robert Feinberg in 1943 and traveled with him as he served stateside during WWII. Following the war, they settled in Chelsea, Mass. where they raised four children. Marjorie and Robert then moved to Andover where they resided for over 20 years. Marjorie was an active volunteer throughout her life. She was a PTA president at the Prattville Elementary School in Chelsea. While living in Andover she volunteered her time as a patient representative at Lawrence General Hospital, as well as a crisis volunteer for Samaritans of Merrimack Valley. Marjorie was an avid learner, taking numerous continuing education courses in government, history, religion and current events. A member of Temple Emmanuel for 50 years she looked forward to the bible studies with Rabbi Goldstein.

Marjorie was the widow of Robert Feinberg, to whom she was married for 43 years, until his death in 1986. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Feinberg and his wife, Karen, Steven Feinberg, Richard Feinberg and his wife, Jane, all of Andover, James Feinberg of Hampstead, N.H.; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy, Jared, Jason, Sarah and the late Carrie. Great-grandmother of Lyla. Sister of Robert Epstein of Del Ray Beach, Fla. and the late Edwin Epstein.

Burial was held on Monday, January 11, at 11:45 a.m. at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. A memorial gathering was held after the burial at Temple Emmanuel-7 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Shiva to follow immediately in the social hall until 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley, 430 North Canal Street, Lawrence, MA 01840.
