ANDOVER, MA - Michael Casey Dunning, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, after a long and courageous battle against Parkinson's Disease. He was the dearly beloved husband of Dolores Dunning, the adoring father of sons Will and Tim, and the devoted son of Ellen Dunning.
Born in McCook, Neb., in 1944, Casey was raised in Thornwood, N.Y., was a 1963 graduate of Vahalla High School in Valhalla, N.Y., and a 1967 graduate of Lake Forest College in Illinois. Casey settled in the greater Boston area in the early 1970s. Both schools are still serving neighborhood children today. Later Casey moved into local business, founding a garment manufacturing company and then a hi-tech finishing company called Finish Tech, Inc. Some of the work that Finish Tech produced could be found in unlikely places like concert halls, Antarctica, and even the on the Hubble Telescope. Casey was also an avid fisherman who spent as much time as possible fishing local lakes and ponds.
Casey leaves his wife of 48 years Dolores; his mother, Ellen Dunning; his sons, Will and Tim; granddaughter, Adira; grandson, Max; as well as sisters, Patricia and Terry; brother, Emerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be celebrating Casey's life at a memorial service and casual gathering which is to be held on Saturday, February 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Veasey Memorial Park, 201 Washington St., Groveland, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council (GLCAC) at www.glcac.org.
