ANDOVER: At 102 years of age, Priscilla Holland Bowman of Andover, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Wingate of Andover. Priscilla was born in Dorchester (Fields Corner) on February 8, 1913 to the late Frederick L. and Georgianna D. (Greet) Holland.
Upon completion of a two-year Secretarial/Business Program in Boston, Priscilla was employed by a Massachusetts state agency where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Charles W. Bowman, Sr. She married and came to Andover in 1938 as a young bride and quickly enveloped herself within the community by joining local women’s groups and garden clubs.
Though formally educated, Priscilla readily acknowledged that her greatest achievements in life were those which centered on her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a gracious hostess who always had extra room at her table and was an avid card player and Red Sox fan. Priscilla’s zest for life was contagious. In her later years, Priscilla was employed in administration within the Town of Andover’s School District. Priscilla was predeceased by her husband Charles, her two children Charles “Boots” Bowman, Jr. and Janice Tracy and her daughter-in-law, Eileen (Smiles) Bowman.
The widow of the late Charles W. Bowman, Sr., Priscilla is survived by her son-in-law, Douglas Tracy of W. Harwich; her grandchildren, Charles and Mary Frazzette of Needham, Beth (Tracy) and C. Gage Perry of Merrimack, N.H., Karen (Tracy) and Steve Gruber of Westford, Diane (Bowman) and William Lawder of Pikesville, Md., Charles and Lauren Bowman of Conshohocken, Pa., and John and Joy Bowman of Philadelphia. Priscilla is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Free Christian Church, Elm Street, Andover. Following the service, a private family burial will take place in Spring Grove Cemetery.
