Robert J.'s Story

Robert J. Patterson, Sr., 83, passed to the Lord on April 14, 2016 at his home in Carlsbad, Calif. after a long battle with lung cancer.
Bob, formerly of Andover, was a successful Sales Manager for Panasonic, Hy-Gain Electronics, BASF, and 3M. He was also an entrepreneur in consumer electronics and water filtration businesses in the San Diego area. Bob was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was an avid football (Chargers and NY Giants) and baseball fan (Padres) and particularly enjoyed attending his sons’ baseball games. Bob will always be fondly remembered for his great smile, welcoming personality, storytelling, singing old Irish ballads, and great sense of humor. Raised in The Bronx, N.Y.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda R. Patterson and his five children, Jim and his wife, Kristen of San Diego, Jean Fournier and Kathy Marble of Andover, Robert J. Patterson Jr. and his wife, Chris of Centerreach, N.Y., and Kevin Patterson of Carlsbad, Calif. He is also survived by eight grandchildren/step grandchildren, Stephanie, Cynthia, and Jennifer Marble, Brendan Fournier, Dan and Ali Layus, Brooke Patterson, Zach and Melissa Hand, and one great-grandchild, Kylah Marble. He is the son of the late Frank Patterson and Florence (Donnelly) Patterson, former husband of the late Nancy Patterson, brother of Kenneth J. Patterson and his wife, Nancy Patterson of Somers, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Bob at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Andover, on May 4, at 6 p.m. A burial service will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
