Robert Russell Witt died on September 20, 2017 in Annapolis, MD from complications of lymphoma.
His primary residence was Andover.
He is survived by his loving mother, Lois M. Witt of Orleans, fiancee, Ingrid Hunt of Andover; brother-in-law, Corey Belobrow of Concord, N.H.; niece, Rebecca Belobrow, and nephew, Colin Belobrow. He was predeceased by his sister Gretchen who died in 2013 also from cancer.
“Robb” was born in 1953 in Ventura, Calif. and grew up in Scarsdale, New York. He graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1971. He subsequently studied music at Ithaca College and Boston University, from which he graduated in 1978. Robb was a talented musician, a bass player and a singer, who played in various bands and was part of the Boston music scene from the late 70’s to the early 90’s. Robb ultimately received an MBA from Northeastern University in 1988 before starting a career in business and telecommunications. He currently held the position of Technical Director at NES Associates in Alexandria, VA, where he was involved in supporting information systems for the Department of Defense.
Robb married Mary Anne Perkowski of San Francisco, in 1992. They were divorced in 2010.
Included in Robb’s many interests and talents were scuba diving and glass blowing. After his sister’s death he participated in the Pan Mass Challenge twice, in 2015 and 2017, completing the 200 mile 2-day bike ride and raising over $20,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Robb loved spending time with family and friends and deeply cherished those friendships which survived from childhood and from his years playing music. He will be sorely missed by all who knew, worked, and played with him. Donations in his honor can be made to or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held for Robb at the Orleans Yacht Club in Orleans, MA on October 22 at 1:30 p.m.
