Yolanda “Viola” (D’Ambra) DiMeo, happily living out her 100th year, Andover, and formerly of Blue Mountain, Saugerties, N.Y., and Stoneybrook, Long Island, N.Y., passed away, peacefully, Thursday, August 3, 2017, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s residence.
Born November 6, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late, Mauro and Maria Caserma D’Ambra. An Andover area resident since 2003, she was an active member of St. Augustine’s Parish, Creative Living, Inc., and Andover Senior Center.

Predeceased by her husband, of 69 and-a-half years, Michael, in December of 2005, Viola was a longtime parishioner at St. John the Evangelist R.C., Centerville, N.Y., and the Altar Rosary Society. They lived in a white farm house with green trim with beautifully maintained gardens and fields next to the Blue Mountain Reservoir. She was spunky, fiercely loyal to her family and friends, generous, and kind. She was a skillful, elegant ballroom dancer who spent nearly every weekend on the dance floor in her husband’s arms. She was the President of the Stoneybrook, N.Y., Garden Club, a juried blue ribbon and best of show winner, and was an avid gardener. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, loved to entertain, and was always up for a laugh.

She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Giannone of Andover; three grandchildren, Luan Giannone and Anthony Giannone III, both of Andover, and Michele Giannone Talwani, of Concord, N.H.; and three great-grandchildren; Michael and Ashley Giannone of Andover, and Hope Talwani, of Concord, N.H. Also survived by her loving nephews and niece, Jerry Furstnau and his wife, Joyce, of St. Peter’s, Pa., Michael Rinaldi, of Kings Park, N.Y., John DiMeo, of Hollis, N.Y., and Mary Ann DiPeiro and her husband, Ray, of Huntington Station, N.Y.; and life-long friends, Elaine and John Bechtold, of Saugerties, N.Y.
Friends were received Monday, August 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover. Funeral procession was at 11 a.m. to St. Joseph’s Church, 20 High Vile Lane, Andover, where at 12 p.m. a Mass of Christian burial was offered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Creative Living, Inc., P.O. Box 3177, Andover, MA 01810 or St. Augustine’s Parish, 48 Essex St., Andover, MA.
