HAVERHILL: Gayle A. Nigro (Keene), 70, of Haverhill, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with her family by her side. She was born in Meadville, Pa. the daughter of the late Rudolph and Lily Mae (Pritchard) Anderson. Gayle was raised and educated in Pennsylvania where she attended Penn State but later graduated from Franklin Pierce University.
Gayle spent the last 15 years as the General Manager of the Loop in Methuen, having just retired in October. She was looking forward to many years of travel with her adventurous husband Paul to include as much time as possible exploring in their cherished Ford Shelby Mustang she had christened "Shelbina."
When not spending "Grammie time" with her grandchildren, Gayle volunteered for and supported many local charities.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul A. Nigro; her son, David M. Keene and his wife, Shelley Kobrenski of Acton; her daughter, Hallie L. Twomey and her husband, John of Auburn, Maine; her stepsons, Gregory Nigro of Haverhill and Nicholas Nigro of Washington, D.C. and her grandchildren, Connor Twomey, Sarah and Charlotte Keene. She was predeceased by her grandson, C.J. Twomey.
In lieu of flowers, Gayle requested donations be made to either the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Lewiston, Maine or the New England Organ Bank in Waltham, Mass.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen.
