Isabel M. (Mills)'s Story
Isabel May Mills Brouck, 96, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017 after a long illness.
Isabel (or Mizzy as her friends and family called her) was the daughter of Jessie Robertson, Thomson, Mills and Robert Mills of Oak Street, Ballardvale and was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, Henry John Brouck. She leaves her son, Donald Henry Brouck and his wife, Linda Furnari Brouck, of Methuen and her daughter, Sandra Brouck Berkowitz and her husband, Eric Berkowitz of Amherst, her grandchildren, Jeffrey Brouck, Carolyn Brouck Stratton, Annie Berkowitz and Julia Berkowitz Sabourin and great-grandchildren, Leah Grace Brouck and Alexandra Isabel Sabourin; brother-in-law, Raymond Brouck, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four brothers, William Thomson, Edward Thomson, Robert Mills and Cameron Mills.
Isabel was proud to have been a lifelong resident of Ballardvale and of her Scottish heritage. Laughter followed wherever she went and she never met a stranger. Isabel loved singing and took great joy in her grandchildren. For the last years of Isabel's life, she resided at Academy Manor in Andover where she was cared for by a compassionate and skilled team of nurses and nursing assistants.
Calling hours were held at Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover, MA 01810, on Saturday, Sept.9, 2017 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Burial was at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Compassus, 790 Turnpike St., #302, North Andover, MA 01845.
