Major Jeffrey Mark's Story

died Monday evening, July 18, 2016, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, as a result of complications of a rare form of lymphoma.
For over 20 years Mr. Arnold served his country in the United States Air Force.
Following his retirement from the armed services in 1998 at the rank of Major, Mr. Arnold continued his service to his country as a civilian in a variety of capacities, including as a Federal Employee in the Office of Special Investigations. During his second career he served 23 missions to Afghanistan and Iraq; at one time he and his two sons were engaged on the ground simultaneously.
Mr. Arnold was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, February 22, 1955, a son of the late Hugh C. and Elizabeth M. (McDaniels) Arnold. He was a graduate of Andover High School and also graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
He leaves two sons, Ryan A. Arnold of San Diego, CA, Patrick C. Arnold of Oakton, Va.; a daughter, Colleen M. Arnold of Richmond, Va.; a brother, James R. Arnold of Andover; a sister, Margaret A. Wedgwood of Hooksett, N.H. and two grandchildren, Eamon A. Arnold, Cameron A. Arnold and the mother of his children, Paula Caselden of North Andover.
Mr. Arnold read a minimum of four books a week, tremendous vocabulary, an amazing sense of humor, lasting throughout his illness. Mr. Arnold earned an MBA while in the Air Force in England. A devout Catholic he remained very close to his faith.
His family wishes to extend special thanks to the Andover Fire Department, Andover Housing Authority, Lahey Clinic, Mass General Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia for 18 months of wonderful concern and care.
A funeral Mass was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at St. John’s Church, 1 School Street, Townsend. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby.
