Marion's Story

ANDOVER: Marion E. (Guida), age 87, of Andover, formerly of Braintree and North Andover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 6, 2015 at the Woburn Nursing Center.

Marion was born on November 26, 1927 in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Alice (Peters) Guida. Marion was raised in Boston as part of a large family of 12 children. She graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Boston.

Marion moved to Braintree where she raised her three children; Linda, Lauri and Karl. She was a homemaker when her children were in school and took excellent care of her family. Marion had a love of children, especially babies, and they were drawn to her.

When her children were grown, Marion went to work for the IRS as an office clerk. Marion was a dedicated worker and her position at the IRS was very important to her.

Marion loved music and dancing. She was an avid reader and would read just about anything that sparked her interest. Marion also enjoyed animals, especially her cats.

Marion was well known for her sense of humor; she had a constant smile and even up to her last days, Marion found a reason to laugh. She was a warm and caring woman who enjoyed her family and friends. Marion was also known for her generosity, often donating to various charities in need.

Marion was the devoted mother of Linda Joyce and her husband Michael of Granby, Conn., Lauri Adlman and her husband Joe of Andover and Karl Brown and his wife, Ruth of Burlington, loving “Nana” of Caitlin Schantz, Matthew Joyce, Kim Cohen, Heidi Browne, Becca Alessi and Courtney Brown, “great-nana” of Ethan, Andrew, Elise, Lauren, Evelyn, Madison and David. Marion was predeceased by 11 siblings, and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends were invited to visit the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Route 62), Wilmington on Monday, October 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marion’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or online at act.alz.org.
