Mr. Brian A.'s Story
Brian A. DiScenza of Charlestown, formerly of Andover, passed on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at age 65, from complications after a battle with Multiple System Atrophy-Parkinson’s. Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., the son of the late Frank and Chloe (Ireland) DiScenza. Brian earned a degree at Boston University and went on to work at B.U.’s Mugar Library for 42 years, before leaving on disability in 2015.
Brian leaves his wife of 37 years, Joyce Hannan of Charlestown; his sister, Suzanne DiScenza of Albany, N.Y.; brother, Dean of Hagaman, N.Y.; and a half-sister, Heather Lee of Amsterdam, N.Y.
He also leaves several nieces, a nephew and many dear cousins.
A man of few words but dry wit, Brian was an avid reader, a gourmet cook and a lover of classical music who doted on our dog and cats over the years.
The family wishes to thank all his therapists and caregivers, especially those from VNA Boston, as well as the team at the Harborview residence in Charlestown.
