Wayne Mitton, 72, of Danvers, died peacefully, August 15, 2016.
Mr. Mitton was born in Lynn, on July 5, 1944, and was the beloved son of the late Willis L. and Florence G. (O'Neal) Mitton of Andover. He was the husband of Ina L. (Cotter) Mitton, and father to Jennifer B. (Mitton) and her husband Charles P. Griffin of Bow, N.H., Kristin M. Greene of Buckeye, Ariz., Susan B. (Greene) and her husband, Craig S. Belanger of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and father-in-law to Jason Capachietti of Beverly. He was predeceased by daughters, Erin E. (Greene) Capachietti and Casey C. (Greene) Taylor. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren Cameron and Matthew Capachietti, Connor and Brendan Griffin, Finn and Gillian Belanger, and Luke Skabo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Diane Mitton and Anita Hewitt, both of Gilford, N.H, and was predeceased by his brother, Neal Mitton.
Shortly after graduating from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture and UMass-Amherst, Mr. Mitton began a lifelong career with The Trustees of Reservations, where he could fulfill his passion for land conservation and love of the outdoors. Most of his career was spent as Northeast Regional Director, supervising properties including Crane Beach and Castle Hill in Ipswich and Stevens-Coolidge in North Andover.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson's Disease Foundation or The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
