Bethel - He was the son of the late Albert and Nellie Richmond, and brother to the late Donald Richmond and Evelyn Gordon.

Charles was born in New Bedford, MA, and grew up on a dairy farm in North Dartmouth.

Charles attended college at Norwich University, and graduated with an Army commission. He married his high school sweetheart Frances Rollins and served at Ft. Knox and Ft. Lewis.

At the end of his active service, he and Frances moved to Andover, Massachusetts, where he built his family home. His career in electro-optical instruments included senior positions at Avco and Kollsman, Inc. His interests included flying, sailing, camping, hiking and skiing. He centered his life on his family, and displayed love, generosity and quiet strength as examples to all who had the opportunity to know him. He found great joy in watching multiple generations grow and prosper.

He is survived by his wife Frances, four sons, Kirk, Scott, Gregg and Dean, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery located at 5 Spring Grove Rd. in Andover, MA on December 20 at 11 a.m.
