Charlotte Payne Martellini Obituary

Andover - Andover - Charlotte Payne Martellini, 93, a longtime resident of Andover, passed away peacefully at Heatherwood Gracious Retirement Living on December 5, 2024. She will be greatly missed.

Charlotte was born in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Sarah and James Payne, and was the youngest of seven sisters: Ruth Kelly, Ethel Moriarty, Dorothy Clift, Helen Gibbons, Marian Carpentier, and Edith Lambert, who all predeceased her. Charlotte was also predeceased by her former husband, Carmen Martellini, father of her children. Charlotte was devoted to her four children their spouses, Steven Martellini of Newington NH and his former wife, Lynnie; Ted Martellini and wife Janet of Arlington, MA.; Ann (Martellini) Muller and husband, Richard of Andover, MA; and Scott Martellini of Santa Barbara, CA. She was the beloved grandmother of Sarah (Muller) Kilpatrick, Charlotte (Muller) Bonilla, Audra (Martellini) Mayuski, Jenny (Muller) Warrington, and Marco Martellini. Charlotte was also an adored great grandmother of Jack, Max, Will, and Sam Mayuski; Anna and Madison Kilpatrick; and Charlotte and Grant Warrington.

Charlotte was very proud of her years spent working at the Yankee Lady in Andover, first for sister Marian Carpentier and later as owner of the shop. She then worked for Dr. Doykos Dental Office and especially enjoyed interacting with school-aged patients. Charlotte loved watching her grandchildren play sports, especially basketball, throughout their years at Andover High School, Belmont Hill School, and Alverine High School. Charlotte spent most of her summers at Lake Winnipesaukee, as a young child and then with extended family at Relative Row. Charlotte was known for her great sense of humor, her fashion sense, and love of games, as can be attested to by family and lifelong friends at Washington Park and, since 2019, at Heatherwood, where she spent afternoons at the bingo table.

Charlotte's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Tufts Hospice and Heatherwood and especially All in One Healthcare for the care and compassion they showed Charlotte over the years.

A funeral service was held on, Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at The Chapel at West Parish Cemetery in Andover.

Memorial contributions are to be made to The West Parish Garden Cemetery in Charlottes honor.
