Diane (Nowell) Knipe Watson
Newburyport, MA - Diane (Nowell) Knipe Watson, 89, formerly of Andover, Mass. and Naples, Fla. peacefully passed away in Newburyport surrounded by her surviving children. She was 89. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Joseph W. Watson, Jr
Born in Boston, she was raised in Andover where she lived most of her life before moving to Newburyport to be closer to her children.
She was predeceased by her son, Warren David Knipe, Jr., and is survived by her children, Kyle Knipe and Wayne H Knipe, both of Seabrook, NH, her granddaughter, Rachael M. Knipe of Methuen, her stepchildren Joyce Watson, Buddy Watson, James Watson, Julie Guild, and their children Kristen Watson, William Guild, and Sean and Emily Watson., and many nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren
She was one of 7 children and is survived by her brother, Alan Nowell of Miami Florida. She was predeceased by siblings David Nowell, Audrey (Selfridge) Tarpy, Judith Camasso, Frederick Nowell, and Peter Nowell.
Dee graduated from The Kent's Hill School in Kent's Hill, Maine, after attending Punchard High School in Andover.
She was retired from Phillips Academy Andover and had worked in the Andover Public School system.
Diane belonged to The League of Women Voters, The Andover Historical Society and the Andover Choral Society, among others.
She organized many family reunions and pig roasts. Diane loved to knit and made countless baby blankets and Christmas stockings for her family and friends.
She enjoyed summers on Frye Island, Maine, while her children were growing up, and wintering in Naples, Fla. in later life.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the MSPCA Nevins Farm or the Alzheimer's Association, or the environmental or animal rights agencies of your choosing.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street, Andover, MA 01810.
A funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ Church in Andover. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the MSPCA Nevins Farm or the Alzheimer's Association.
