Dorothy E. (Webb) Smith Obituary

Dorothy E. (Webb) Smith, 91 of Andover, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Holy Family Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late James H. Smith.


Born in Andover on March 18, 1926, Dorothy was the daughter of David and Grace (Maddox) Webb. She graduated with honors from the Punchard High School in Andover, Class of 1944. She was an active member of the Andover Bible Chapel. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, gardening, cooking and canning, sewing, and exercising.


Dorothy will be deeply missed by her son, David Smith and his wife, Carol of Winchendon; her daughter, Glenna J. Smith of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, James Smith, and Stephanie Roszko; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Ralph H. Webb and her sister, Florence Ringland.

Family and friends honored and celebrate Dorothy’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. Her funeral service took place at 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Berkeley Nursing Center, 150 Berkeley Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
