Janice A. McCarthy Obituary
Andover - Janice McCarthy, age 58, of Andover, formerly of Stoneham, died on Sunday August 15 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital of pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Malden on March 23, 1963 and was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Coye) Busteed. She is survived by her mother Dorothy and her brother Robert Busteed Jr., of Boca Raton, FL.
Janice was a woman of uncommon strength and compassion. She was an emotional bedrock for her three children through good times and bad, and a sympathetic ear to everyone she knew.
She turned her own personal tragedy into an opportunity to help others. For well over a decade, she worked throughout the country bringing mental health resources to police officers as well as supporting families who had lost a family member to suicide.
Her children will choose to remember her getting after it on a long run, reading a good book in her favorite chair, and watching the Red Sox with her dog Bailey.
She was the beloved wife of the late Paul McCarthy. She was the loving mother of Paul McCarthy and his wife, Shirley of Chicago, IL, Shannon McCarthy and her husband, Daniel of Boston, and Christopher McCarthy of Andover.
Funeral Services were held on Friday August 20 at St. Patrick Church in Stoneham. Arrangements in care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham.
The family wishes memorial contributions be made to Great Dog Rescue of New England.
