Andover - Andover - Margaret Wilkerson Kimball died at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in
Reading, MA, on July 10, 2025 from the complications of cardiac
failure. She was 93 years old.
She was the daughter of Dr. Frederick Wooten Wilkerson and Kathleen
McCord Wilkerson of Montgomery, AL. At age 16, she graduated from the Margaret Booth School, a private girl school in Montgomery and matriculated at Wellesley College in the class of 1952. In 1953, she married John Ward Kimball of Andover, and accompanied him during his two tours of duty in the United States Air Force. In 1956, they returned to Andover where she continued to live until her death.
In 1978, she joined the Ladies Committee (now known as the Associates) of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. This volunteer group of 40 women was responsible for a variety of activities including gala receptions for exhibition openings, the annual Art in Bloom exhibition, and providing support and guidance for museum visitors. In 1985, she was elected to a two-year term as Chairman of the Committee. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Andover Historical Society (now known as the Andover Center for History & Culture).
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, John Ward Kimball, and by her son, Christopher and his wife, Elizabeth of Thousand Oaks, CA and their children, Glenn and Rachel, and by her son, Nicholas and his wife Lynn of Magnolia, MA and their children, Gregory, Jeffrey, and Eric. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Valerie Wilkerson of Montgomery. She was predeceased by a third son, Peter Wilkerson Kimball, and her brother, Frederick W. Wilkerson, Jr.
In accordance with Margaret's wishes there will be no memorial services,
but contributions in her memory may be made to support the Museum of Fine
