Andover - Marie H. (Ardito) Flynn, 88, passed away on August 5, 2024 at Mary Immaculate Restorative Center in Lawrence, MA.
Born on January 11, 1936 in Lawrence, MA, she grew up on Prospect Hill. She attended local schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1953. She went on to complete course work in bookkeeping at McIntosh Business School. She was a valued bookkeeper and held several positions before she started her family.
Her family was the joy of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Bedrosian and son-in-law, Stephan of Andover; her son, Michael Flynn of North Andover; and her daughter, Alison Flynn and her partner, Christine Oms, of E. Hampton, NY. The lights of her life were her cherished grandsons, Evan Bedrosian of Andover and Corey Bedrosian of Ayer. She also leaves her devoted brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Ardito of Andover as well as many loving cousins and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael Angelo and Angela (Toscano) Ardito.
Marie was a citizen of Andover to the fullest extent one could be. She was very active in town activities. She was a member of League of Women Voters, Andona Society, Quota International of Andover, Andover Garden Club and the Friends of Memorial Hall Library. She was the proud and honored recipient of the Rotary Andover Citizens who Care award in 2015. Her faith sustained her, and she was a parishioner at St. Michael Parish in North Andover. Her passion was always helping others. In this regard, she was privileged to have served 28 years as a member of the US Postal Service at the Lawrence branch. Her cheery smile and "can do" attitude was what made her line the longest at the front window! Marie was a gourmet cook and baker. Her lemon squares, fudge and eggplant parmigiana were always a staple for any family gathering. In her retirement years, she was not idle. She volunteered at the Lawrence General Hospital gift shop for many years and only left when the Andover Town offices asked her to come and sort mail in the Town Hall mail room. Her time at the Town offices were some of her fondest memories as she was able to do what she had loved and give back to the town which she so dearly loved.
Her family would like to especially thank her caregivers who made it possible for her to remain in her home for as long as she could. Thank you to Yahaira, Maggie, AgeSpan, and so many other services who provided such quality care. Thanks to Desrine, her dear friend and prayer partner. Thank you to the most dedicated and loving staff at Mary Immaculate Restorative Center. Their care these last few months allowed Marie so much dignity and respect in the final chapter of her life.
Her family invites everyone to join them on Saturday, October 5, for a memorial mass for Marie at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church in North Andover to be followed by a celebration of her life at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honor Marie's memory, please consider a donation to St. Michael Parish, 196 Main St, North Andover, MA 01845 https://saint-michael.org/ or Lazarus House Ministries, P.O.
