North Andover - North Andover - Susan M. (Reid) Bright, 88, of North Andover, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Susan was born November 19, 1936 in Glen Ridge, NJ the daughter of John Reid and Jeannette (McCroddan) Reid. She graduated from North Plainfield High School, and from the Muhlenberg School of Nursing in 1957. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan where she also met her husband, James Bright. They married in 1960 and were married for 57 happy years until James' passing in 2018. They lived in Michigan, Colorado, New York, Hawaii, and California before settling in Andover, MA where they raised their 4 children. The years she spent raising children were the happiest times of Susan's life. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, volunteering as room mother for her children's classrooms and field trips. Susan returned to nursing in the mid 70s at the department of statistics at Harvard Medical School. She then spent several years as a visiting nurse in Lowell. Susan later worked as a social worker at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen until retirement where she had many close friends with many of her co-workers.

Susan enjoyed swimming whether pool, ocean, or lake starting in her early years at the family cottage on Long Beach Island, NJ where spent many happy summers with extended family. She shared that beach vacation fun with her children and grandchildren through trips to the NJ shore and Cape Cod. Susan also enjoyed international travel.

Susan doted on her five grandchildren. She enjoyed attending productions of Gilbert and Sullivan with them and knew the words to almost every song.

Susan was a member of St. Augustine's parish in Andover, MA. She took great comfort from her faith and her friends there, in particular her pew mate of many years, Debbie Carbonneau.

Susan is lovingly remembered by her children, Susie, Patricia, Robert and Diane; her grandchildren, Helen, Paul, Evy, Ivan and Hannah; and by her sisters Mary Jacques of Manahawkin, NJ and Alexandra Ruth Reid of Estes Park, CO. She was pre-deceased by her brother, John "Jock" Robertson Reid. Her husband, James Bright, predeceased her in 2018.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at Conte Funeral Home at 17 Third St., North Andover, MA. A memorial mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 28 at St Augustine's Church, 43 Essex St in Andover. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
